FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What are the ingredients in the Royal Elixir Catnip Spray?

Our sprays include Organic Ingredients:

Water: ~95%
Catnip Extract: ~3%
Silvervine extract ~3%
Non-toxic, non-corrosive

Q: What's the difference between Royal Elixir and regular catnip spray? A: Three key differences: (1) We use Extra Fancy grade catnip extract (highest quality) vs standard grade, (2) We add silvervine fruit extract for 95% response rate vs 75% standard, (3) Professional strength formula means 2-3 sprays work vs 10+ needed for weaker sprays = longer bottle life.

Q: Will this work for catnip "non-responders"? A: Very likely! Approximately 25% of cats don't respond to catnip alone, but DO respond to silvervine. Our dual-formula achieves 95%+ response rate. However, approximately 5% of cats lack receptors for BOTH - this is normal feline genetics and no spray will work for them.

Q: How many applications per bottle? A: 100+ applications based on 2-3 sprays per use.

Q: Can I spray this directly on my cat? A: ABSOLUTELY NOT. EXTERNAL USE ONLY. Never spray on cat's fur, skin, eyes, nose, or mouth. Apply ONLY to toys, scratching posts, surfaces, play areas. Cats should access DRIED spray on objects, not wet liquid on their body.

Q: Is this safe for kittens? A: Not suitable for kittens under 10 months. Young kittens don't respond to catnip (receptors not developed), and we haven't tested safety on this age group. Wait until 10+ months, then start with minimal spray under supervision.

Q: Will it stain my furniture/carpet? A: Our water-based formula doesn't typically stain, but we recommend testing on inconspicuous area first. Avoid over-spraying (causes wet saturation). 2-3 light sprays that dry within 60 seconds won't stain most fabrics.

Q: How long does the scent last after spraying? A: To humans: 30-60 minutes. To cats: 3-7 days (their olfactory system is much more sensitive). This is why 2-3x weekly application is sufficient - cats detect it long after we can't smell it.

Q: Can I use this daily? A: Not recommended. Daily exposure causes habituation - cat's receptors become desensitized and stop responding. Optimal frequency is 2-3 times per week with 2-3 day breaks between. Less is more with catnip!

Q: What if my cat licks a sprayed toy? A: Small amounts ingested from licking dried spray on toy are generally safe (catnip is non-toxic). However, prevent cat accessing toy until completely dry. If cat ingests LARGE amounts of liquid directly from bottle, contact vet immediately.

Q: Safe for multi-cat homes? A: Yes! Spray different toys for different cats, or create separate play zones. Monitor for territorial behavior during initial use - some cats may compete for sprayed items. Provide one sprayed toy per cat to prevent conflict.

Q: Does it work on scratching posts? A: Yes! One of the best uses. Spray scratching post lightly, allow to dry, then place cat near post. Reward when cat uses post. Repeat 2-3x weekly until scratching habit established. Redirects scratching from furniture to post.

Q: Can I use on cat's bed? A: Generally not recommended (catnip is for play, not sleep). However, some owners use light spray on new beds to encourage exploration. If you do this: 1 light spray only, allow to dry completely, then introduce bed. Never soak bedding.

Q: What if I spray too much? A: Over-spraying wastes product and can overwhelm cat. If toy is saturated: allow to air-dry completely (several hours), then offer to cat. In future, use just 2-3 light sprays. More is NOT better with catnip.

Q: Compatible with non-Catnip Queen toys? A: Absolutely! Works on ANY fabric catnip toy from any brand. Revives old toys that lost potency. Also works on rope toys, scratching posts, cat trees, tunnels, etc.

Q: How do I know when bottle is empty? A: When spray nozzle no longer produces mist despite shaking/pumping, the bottle is empty. Average lifespan: 6-12 months for typical household.
