FAQs
Is the shipping free?
No. Shipping is added to the cart. We use Royal Mail or DPD.
How do I keep my indoor cat entertained with these?
A: Best practices:
- Rotate different toys throughout the week (keeps novelty)
- Use toys during interactive play sessions (toss, batting games)
- Hide toys and let your cat "hunt" for them
- Combine with other enrichment (window perches, cat trees)
- Schedule 2-3 catnip play sessions per week for sustained interest
Will my aggressive chewer cat destroy these in minutes?
Our toys are built tough with reinforced stitching and durable fabric – they survive most aggressive play.
However, they're designed for batting, kicking, and carrying (interactive play), not heavy chewing. If you have an extreme chewer, try our JUMBO Royal Catch toy, variant with double-thick fabric and strong stitching.
Also, rotating toys helps extend lifespan significantly.
How do dogs react to catnip?
Most dogs either show no reaction or only mild interest in catnip, unlike cats that can become very playful or excited.
When it does have an effect, catnip tends to act as a mild sedative in dogs, making some dogs a bit calmer or sleepier rather than hyper.
Is this suitable for kittens?
A: Yes, these toys are safe for kittens. However, most kittens under 6 months don't yet respond to catnip – they haven't developed the genetic sensitivity yet. If you have a young kitten, you might not see the "catnip reaction" until they're older. The toy is still safe for play, just might not create the obsessed behavior yet.

What to do if your dog ate catnip
If your dog has just eaten some catnip and seems normal, you can usually just monitor them and offer fresh water; most dogs have no problems or only mild drowsiness.
Contact your vet or an emergency vet service promptly if you see repeated vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy that worries you, signs of an allergic reaction, or if your dog has underlying health issues or is on medication
Is it safe if a dog eats catnip?
Catnip is regarded as non‑toxic to dogs, and small amounts (like chewing on a toy or a bit of dried herb) are usually safe.
The main risk is mild stomach upset (vomiting or diarrhoea) if a dog eats a large quantity, and in rare cases an allergic reaction (itching, swelling, breathing difficulty).
We use catnip in pouches inside the toys so I guess your dog has eaten the toy or destroyed it?
We do say that the toys should be supervised from dogs or children playing with them, so next time no play time for Fido and only Catnip Queens should play with these! :)
Why do some cats not respond at all?
A: It's genetics! About 15-20% of cats lack the specific olfactory receptor gene (autosomal dominant trait) needed to react to nepetalactone in catnip. This is hereditary and totally normal – it doesn't mean your cat is "broken" or the product is weak. Affected cats simply won't show interest, just like some humans can't smell asparagus in urine. Try silvervine as an alternative!
Are these good for multi-cat households?
A: Yes! Many customers have 2-6 cats and report high success. Some cats may "fight" over the toys (they're that popular!), so consider buying the 6-pack bundle if you have multiple cats. This ensures each cat gets one, and you have extras for rotation to maximize longevity.
Is catnip like a drug? Is it safe?
A: Catnip is completely safe and non-addictive. It's a natural plant (Nepeta cataria) that creates a temporary euphoric effect similar to mild play excitement – not a dangerous "high." Veterinarians recommend it for mental stimulation and stress relief. There are zero health risks, and cats cannot overdose on it.
What does catnip actually do to cats?
A: Catnip contains nepetalactone, an oil that binds to receptors in a cat's nose, triggering a euphoric response in the brain. Effects include: rolling, rubbing, playing energetically, vocalizing, and sometimes drooling. The "high" lasts 5-15 minutes, followed by a rest period. It's completely safe, non-addictive, and vet-recommended for enrichment.
Will this work for senior cats (10+ years)?
A: Absolutely! In fact, many customers report success with "bored" senior cats who've lost interest in other toys. The strong organic catnip often reignites their playfulness. One customer said their 15-year-old cat "went mad for it after ignoring toys for years." Just make sure your senior cat is mobile enough for play.
Can I give my cat catnip every day?
A: Yes, catnip is safe for daily use. However, cats can become temporarily "immune" if exposed too frequently (their receptors need 30-60 minutes to reset). We recommend 2-3 play sessions per week for maximum effect. Rotating toys helps maintain novelty and excitement, preventing habituation.
Do cats eat catnip or just sniff it?
A:
Both! Cats typically rub against the toy, lick it, roll on it, and sometimes chew it. The catnip is sewn inside so they can't eat large amounts.
Ingesting small amounts of catnip is completely safe – it's non-toxic and non-addictive. The reaction (playfulness, rolling, rubbing) comes from sniffing the nepetalactone oil in catnip.
To avoid cats eating too much the herbs are kept in a pouch inside the toys and we took the decision to provide Catnip sprays a result to avoid mess but keep the kitties coming back for more.
How do I make the catnip scent last longer?
A: Pro tips from our customers:
- Store toys in a sealed container (ziplock bag or airtight jar) between play sessions
- Rotate 3-4 toys weekly – give each toy a "rest" period
- Let toys air-dry after play before storing
- Refresh by kneading/rubbing every few weeks Following this routine, customers report their toys stay potent for 2+ years!
- Try our range of Catnip Spray’s to refresh your toys and be kind to the planet!
What if my cat doesn't respond to catnip?
Approximately 20% of cats lack the genetic receptor that makes them respond to catnip – this is completely normal feline genetics, not a product issue. It's hereditary and has nothing to do with toy quality.
If your cat is a non-responder, consider trying silvervine-based toys instead, which work on 80% of catnip non-responders.
Try a quick spray from you range of sprays that contain Extra Fancy Catnip and Silverine, to get your feline friend interested.
